Welcome Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson and Triumph Raleigh. Well, sort of. I say that because Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson and Triumph Raleigh is the new name of Raleigh’s Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Triumph Dealership which was founded 35 years ago by Ray Price. Just this month John Marotti purchased the dealership from the Price Family. I know there were many motorcyclists throughout North Carolina that may have liked the old name to remain. In fact, the dealership’s general manager, Mark Hendrix, told the Raleigh News and Observer that Mr. Marotti, preferred that the dealership not change names. But understandably, Ray’s wife, Ms. Jean Price, wanted the name to retire with the sale. Don’t worry though about Ray Price’s legacy being forgotten. Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson will honor Ray by continuing to have an exhibit on the second floor of the dealership featuring a story board of his motorcycle drag racing career and 6 of his drag racing motorcycles. Just to put that career in perspective, Ray won 46 national racing events and set 51 national racing records. He has been inducted into the American Motorcycle Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Drag Racing Hall of Fame, the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame, the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame, and the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
I know that Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson and Triumph Raleigh will continue Ray Price’s commitment to providing the very best customer service to motorcyclists across North Carolina. Also, they will continue to host/sponsor a significant number of rides, workshops, charity events, etc. throughout the year. Please check out the list of events on their website at https://www.tobaccoroadhd.com. As a Raleigh HOG Chapter member I look forward to the continuing relationship between the dealership and the chapter.
